Sunkissed!

I am back from Krabi with a tan! It's really a dream come true for me. But I was slightly disappointed as I feel that Ko Samui is better. (And to be fair, I cannot compare Krabi to Maldives or Bali).

It was a 4D3N trip with Tim and Emily. My third trip with Tim and previously we went to Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi. It was also my third trip with Emily and previously it was to Malacca and Phuket! We flew by Tiger Airways and it is only one and half hour flight. We reached Krabi at about 3.30pm. After check in, we wasted no time and set out onto the streets looking for tour package and dinner. There were quite a number of travel agencies on the streets and we found a suitable package for island hopping on the second day. It rained on the third day so we spent the morning in the room playing monopoly. Then later in the afternoon when the rain stopped, we went out and had massage. I love foot massages!!

One of the pictures that I took (with iphone)

I took more than 600 pictures; will upload photos soon!

Parking ethics

Ah Boon was saying that there is a pillar so the red car purposely parked nearer to the silver car. Pardon me, but it is common to have pillar and pole in carparks right? If I have a rear passenger, I will let him/her alight from the other door or I will ask him/her to alight first before I do my parking. If I really need to use that side of the car door, I will find another parking lot. I nearly forgot to mention, there are still other parking lots nearby.

Brunch @ The Dempsey Brasserie

Address : Block 7 Dempsey Road #01-03 Singapore 249671

We had brunch at The Dempsey Brasserie today! I couldn't find this place on my GPS but fret not, the road signs are very helpful and I managed to find it easily. There were also ample parking spaces.

We had our lunch indoors as it was raining heavily throughout the 4 hours we were there. The restaurant's decor was simple - cement floor, mesh fencing, high ceilings and beams. The bar counter is right in the middle of the restaurant. The whole area looks spacious and I strongly recommend this place for big groups. The staffs were also friendly and attentive. They came around to refill our water and we never had to wait too long for them to attend to us.

Some photos of the restaurant

We ordered Pancakes to share

Most of us ordered the Eggs Royale.
I personally find this average. Infact the food was already turning cold when it was served.

I am not a fan of french onion soups but the generous servings of thick melted cheese was irresistible. Yums!

Truffle fries!

The desserts (1) - Birthday cake for Derrick
The desserts (2) - Birthday cake for Jacelyn
The desserts (3)
 From all of us!

Fireworks in Shanghai

We chanced upon this fireworks after dinner @ 上海小南國
Pardon the poor quality of the video. I took it with iphone 4 and in a moving taxi.

Drink, Drank, Drunk @ 上海小南國

My colleague calls this Huang(2) Jiu (3). My first try and I did not like it ; taste like chinese medicine. I heard this is good for health though.

First formulated in Shanghai in 1939 and brewed in 8-year quality wine essence.

巴国布衣 (Ba Guo Bu Yi)

Address : 定西路1018 号近延安西路 (just 10 minutes taxi ride from Hotel Nikko Shanghai)

The name 巴国布衣 means "Sichuan Common People," The last two characters 布衣 mean "cloth gown" which refers to the commoner's garb. Sichuan cuisine is known for its spicy dishes and dishes featuring snake, turtle, rabbit, eel, bullfrog etc. (My colleagues ordered the rabbit meat and Megan & I skipped it totally).

This is my second visit to 巴国布衣, the first being July 2007. They used to have fire-spitting performance but it is now banned. Nonetheless, the face-changing performance is just as brilliant. I was standing merely a foot away and I am very sure that my eyes did not blink. In that spilt second, he changed his mask! You just have to see it for yourself!

Hotel Nikko Shanghai (Japanese Garden View)

View from the room. And that's the Japanese garden. I stayed on the 8th floor.

The bathtub from different angles (day time)

The entrance to the room

The room's design is similar to the previous room I had except that this time I got the double bed.

The walk-in wardrobe.
The safe which I only discovered on the last night.

Some random shot. The hotel also provided one big paper bag and one mini paper bag. How thoughtful!

Magazines and most importantly the map!

I really like the bathroom very much!

Two basins! Megan visited me on Sunday morning. Just happened that both of us were washing our hands at the same time. At that moment, I really thought we were in a 'public washroom'. Haha!
Me looking silly here. I was trying to measure the depth of the bath tub. In this picture I was standing on the first half of the tub.
The bathtub from different angles (night time)

I strongly advise that children stay away from this bathtub

The in-door swimming pool. Glad that this quick snap I took whilst in the lift came out well.

Next up- one day tour in Suzhou and face-changing performance at 巴国布衣 (定西路1018号,宁夏宾馆旁).
