巴国布衣 (Ba Guo Bu Yi)

Address : 定西路1018 号近延安西路 (just 10 minutes taxi ride from Hotel Nikko Shanghai)

The name 巴国布衣 means "Sichuan Common People," The last two characters 布衣 mean "cloth gown" which refers to the commoner's garb. Sichuan cuisine is known for its spicy dishes and dishes featuring snake, turtle, rabbit, eel, bullfrog etc. (My colleagues ordered the rabbit meat and Megan & I skipped it totally).

This is my second visit to 巴国布衣, the first being July 2007. They used to have fire-spitting performance but it is now banned. Nonetheless, the face-changing performance is just as brilliant. I was standing merely a foot away and I am very sure that my eyes did not blink. In that spilt second, he changed his mask! You just have to see it for yourself!

Hotel Nikko Shanghai (Japanese Garden View)

View from the room. And that's the Japanese garden. I stayed on the 8th floor.

The bathtub from different angles (day time)

The entrance to the room

The room's design is similar to the previous room I had except that this time I got the double bed.

The walk-in wardrobe.
The safe which I only discovered on the last night.

Some random shot. The hotel also provided one big paper bag and one mini paper bag. How thoughtful!

Magazines and most importantly the map!

I really like the bathroom very much!

Two basins! Megan visited me on Sunday morning. Just happened that both of us were washing our hands at the same time. At that moment, I really thought we were in a 'public washroom'. Haha!
Me looking silly here. I was trying to measure the depth of the bath tub. In this picture I was standing on the first half of the tub.
The bathtub from different angles (night time)

I strongly advise that children stay away from this bathtub

The in-door swimming pool. Glad that this quick snap I took whilst in the lift came out well.

Next up- one day tour in Suzhou and face-changing performance at 巴国布衣 (定西路1018号,宁夏宾馆旁).

The Bund 外灘 and Nanjing Road 南京路

I decided to visit the Bund with my colleague during my second work trip to Shanghai this week. It was a crowded Saturday night! We also went shopping at Nanjing Road 南京路. There were many silk shops along the streets and my colleague got herself a pretty silk blouse. There were also many touts and they followed us around.

Hotel Nikko, Shanghai

Hotel Nikko Shanghai is located at the junction between Yan An West Road and Zhen Ning Road. The hotel offers easy access to People’s Square, the Bund and Pudong area via the adjacent Yan’an Expressway. It is about an hour drive to Pudong International Airport. In case the taxi driver does not know the location, the Citibank building is a good landmark. On the other side, there is the Mei(3) Li(4) Yuan (2) Gong(1) Yu(4). The downside is that this hotel is not within walking distance to shopping complex and most restaurants.

And I must mention this, there is an indoor swimming pool at the hotel! They also have an iPod dock with radio and alarm clock by the bedside and a water-proof TV in the bathroom! I stayed at Premier Room from 10 to 14 October 2011.

Address : 488 West Yan An Road, Shanghai 200050, china

View from my room - 15th floor

Views of the room

The bathroom is see-through! It is operated by a button, not the old-fashioned blinds or curtains.

I requested for non-smoking rooms; the Hotel only had twin rooms at that time

The working desk and TV

I like the work area

Vainty room!

Hot Bath!

You know how some cups are always stained at the edges? These are sparklingly clean!

So thoughtful, isn't it? They have two colours to differentiate the toothbrush.
Most hotels would have just used the white colour for all their toiletries.

This is what got me most EXCITED!!
Look at this big piece of bathroom towel! It is 4 times the size of the average towels most hotels use.
The material is non-slip and water resistant.
*2 Thumbs up*
